Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) remembered its workers, allegedly killed by police and security forces during the infamous 25 November 2017, Faizabad clashes in Rawalpindi. TLP workers had clashed with the police and paramilitary forces after the government, over Islamabad High Court orders, attempted to forcibly end the religious party’s siege of the twin cities at Faizabad. The religious party had held the sit in to protest a change in oath of parliamentarians by the incumbent government which it amounted to committing blasphemy.

Two years after the D-day, TLP  remembered the people it claims were killed and therefore are, ‘the martyrs of the struggle for defense of the finality of Prophethood’. The tweets and graphics maintained that those killed, sacrificed their lives to protect the sanctity and finality of the prophethood.

TLP-affiliated Twitter accounts tweeted the hashtag #یوم_شہداءختم_نبوت (The Day of the martyrs of finality of prophethood), implying that the deceased laid down their lives in defense of the belief in finality of prophethood of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), which as they accuse, was tempered with in an oath document by the then government.

These accounts shared hundreds of images/ graphics to remember those allegedly killed in the action. These tweets created enough engagements to propel the hashtag to the third place in Pakistani trends.

Below are some of the graphics shared by top contributors.

The campaign had the attributes of an engineered Twitter campaign, which culminated in it appearing amongst the top trends. It followed, like other coordinated campaigns, a call to share the trend.
